THE LAST BATTLE
C.S.LEWIS
Illustrated by PAULINE BAYNES
"Never in all my days have I seen such terrible things written in the skies as there have been nightly since this year began," said Roonwit the Centaur. Indeed when Jill and Eustace are thrown by a great jerk into Narnia, they discover everything in the most dreadful state of confusion and doubt. Shift, the cleverest, ugliest and most wrinkled of apes, has persuaded poor gullible Puzzle the donkey to wear a lion-skin and pose as Aslan. So when imoster Aslan starts to give terrible orders, the animals and dwarfs are at sixes and sevens about what to do and whom to believe. Now Tirian, King of Narnia, must act swiftly before the animals are corrupted altogether and the harmony of the kingdom completely destroyed. What a wonderful surprise it is when Peter, Edmund and Lucy join Jill and Eustace to help Tirian in the great battle to decide once and for all the future of the once glorious kingdom of Narnia.

In the light of a huge roaring bonfire the last battle of Narnia is about to take place between King Tirian, aided resolutely by Jill and Eustace, and the cruel Calormenes, when the struggle between the forces of good and evil will finally be decided. But with doubt and confusion everywhere, will King Tirian be able to stand firm at Narnia's darkest hour?
