Who out there is an avid reader? If you are then this is the perfect item for you! I love reading and I always have. For the last 20 or so years of my life, I have been a reader of all types of literature. I love reading so much that I even buy special bookmarks to mark where I am reading. For me, reading a book would not be complete without using a bookmark to keep my place. Bookmarks not only show style, they show personality. That is why you need this item. I love Lord of the Rings, so when I saw bookmarks based on the movie, I was enthralled. Once I bought them and brought them home, it seemed fitting to me to use them first in reading Lord of the Rings. I went to my personal library, got my leather bound copy, and started reading.
The first bookmark I used was the Legolas bookmark. I used it to mark my spot every time I had to stop reading (for instance when my mom told me to do the dishes or do my homework.) It made it very easy to find my spot when I started reading again. The only problem is that I have a bad habit of needing to do something with my hands while I read; I am a fidgeter. I developed the bad habit of fidgeting with the tassels on bookmarks long before I got these ones, but at this point in time, my fidgeting was at a maximum. As you might have guessed, after a few days, the fragile tassel on the Legolas bookmark broke. (Even though it was upsetting, it was just fine with me because Legolas is one of my least favorite Lord of the Rings characters. Staring at the face of Orlando Bloom was not something I wanted to do as I read the most epic book of all time. I was actually happy that the tassel broke because I’d get to stare at the face of a COOL character instead of a lame one.)
The next bookmark I decided to use was the Gandalf one—that was a cool bookmark. I read through the journeying of the fellowship while Gandalf stared back at me, affirming the reality of what I was reading. Even though I tried not to play with the tassel on his bookmark, it too fell prey to my fidgety hands. I started to get angry at myself. Even though the bookmark wasn’t ruined, the tassel was ruined (I really think they should sell those separately for people like me who can’t manage to keep them nice.)
I continued using the Gandalf bookmark, but after a while, it fell out of my book and was lost forever. I thought about just keeping the rest of my bookmarks nice so that they wouldn’t get lost or ruined and making them a display or something but that idea died off pretty quickly. I decided that the thing to do was to take the tassels off while I was reading. Surprisingly, it worked! I would just take the tassel off while I read my book and when I was finished reading, I would replace it. I used the Gimli bookmark, my second-to-last one, very carefully. I removed the tassel every time I read and replaced it when I was done. I had the perfect system…or so I thought. Just when I thought nothing could go wrong, disaster struck. I had just finished reading an exciting chapter and I was ready to go eat something. I put the bookmark in the book and went downstairs to my room to find the tassel. I looked all around for it, but it was nowhere to be found! I tore my room apart, all the while wondering how I could have lost it! It was in perfectly good condition, but it was gone. I decided in my disappointment that I would never use another tassel again. I took my last bookmark, the Aragorn one, out of the sleeve and removed the tassel. I put it into a box of miscellaneous items under my bed and left it there. I knew that nothing could possibly go wrong.
I was, of course, wrong again. As time wore on I noticed that my fidgeting was making the plastic sleeve for the bookmark break. The funny thing is that even though it was wearing down, the plastic sleeve lasted longer than the bookmark. I lost the Aragorn bookmark and that was it—my set of bookmarks was gone. I no longer had anything to mark my books with.
That is why this bookmark sleeve and tassel are unique: they don’t have a bookmark. You get to decide which bookmarks to put into it. That is not, however, the only unique feature of this set. Because of my fidgeting, the plastic sleeve has been ripped down the side so that any regular sized bookmark can be slipped in and out with ease. I have always been annoyed when my bookmarks don’t slip easily in and out of the sleeve. This sleeve entirely bypasses that problem. A large part of one side is ripped while the other side is ripped only slightly. This allows for easy removal or replacement of any regular-sized bookmark without any hassle, not to mention that the bookmark won’t fall out because only one side is ripped more than half-way. Don’t worry, I have also tested it to see whether or not it will tear more, and it won’t as long as you don’t tug on it. This sleeve is truly genuine! Nowhere in the world can you buy a sleeve that is so functional while still providing adequate protection to your bookmarks!
Because this item is so unique you may wonder why I am trying to sell it. Wouldn’t anyone want to keep something so incredibly unique? Of course! But there are two factors that have influenced my decision: First, I have a new bookmark. It was a Christmas present from my little sister, who saved her allowance to buy it for me, so I can’t get rid of it. It is not, regrettably, a normal-sized bookmark so it won’t fit in this sleeve. Second, seeing this sleeve and tassel remind me of my ruined Lord of the Rings bookmark set. I am tired of being reminded that because of my fidgeting, my favorite bookmark set is gone forever.
