Zagat has come out with "America's 1,000 Top Italian Restaurants," working with Buonitalia S.p.a., and judging eateries across the U.S. partially on how closely they hew to the "real Italian food experience," which Buonitalia defines as the "warmth of the welcome and skills of the restaurant, how genuine the products used are," and "the art of using simple and original cooking to bring out and highlight the excellence of Italian ingredients."
New York, NY, February 27, 2008 – Zagat Survey today announced the release of America's 1,000 Top Italian Restaurants – a guide to the best Italian restaurants in 53 major markets across the nation. Created in partnership with Buonitalia S.p.a., and its' parent organization – the Italian Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies – the new guide showcases America's best Italian restaurants.
